Musso & Frank Grill

Musso & Frank Grill

Today we spent a grueling day in the sun weeding in Madison Garden for Project Angel Food, so we booked a last minute rsvp thru Open Table at Musso & Frank Grill, another favorite of Gretchen’s. It’s a charming historic venue that’s been in business since 1919 and has kept to it’s old school decor and service, and the staff there is just as delightful.

We were quickly seated in a beautiful red booth and then greeted by our waiter, Jonathan who wasted no time getting our drinks out. Gretchen suggested we split the Musso & Frank Special Salad, so that’s what we did. It was quite good, though I thought it would have been more ‘special’ considering the name. After that we also shared the Cobbler of the Day (apple & cranberry) which we both enjoyed.

Also, Gretchen spotted a friend of hers sitting across from us: Bob Rogers who is on the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This was very timely as the Oscars were just last night. He kindly came and sat with us for a few minutes and we chatted a bit about the show and his role on the Board. Very interesting man, indeed. And so nice and sweet.

Needless to say, we’ll definitely be back because even if the food was just average (which it wasn’t), the staff, particularly Jonathan and the Maitre d’/Assistant General Manager, Bobby as well as running into Bob Rogers, made it such a wonderful experience. I very much look forward to seeing them again.

Celeb Sighting: outside of Bob Rogers, we didn’t notice any ‘in the spotlight’ celebs when we were there, but we know this is one of their Fab Choices.
