Growing Blueberries

Today I stopped by Home Depot in Hollywood to pick up some Miracle Gro ($6) for some vegetables and herbs I have seeds for, because after trying to grow them using regular organic soil, I found the seeds just don’t grow without the Gro. Then, while perusing the garden area, I happened upon some Sunshine Blueberry Plants ($14.98). I’ve wanted to try growing them since I moved here from NYC, but have felt a bit trepidatious about growing them in containers. Plus, I never had large enough pots until Gretchen gave me some she didn’t want anymore. I’m also an admitted garden novice. But today, I relented and bought and planted my first one, using a combination of organic soil on the bottom of the pot, and Miracle Gro on top, finished with some wood chips (EarthGro mulch).

I’ll add to this post as the weeks go by to update you on my progress, but growing blueberries is (hopefully) a Fab Choice. Wish me luck!
